The premiere destination for lovers of modern Austrian art, the Leopold Museum’s collection includes works by Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka, Richard Gerstl and the world’s largest collection of works by Egon Schiele. The collection took five decades to consolidate. In meticulously arranged exhibits you can follow the gradual transformation from the Wiener Secession to the Art Nouveau or Jugendstil movement to Expressionism. Not only drawings and paintings are on display, however, but also an impressive selection of handicrafts and furniture of the era of the Wiener Werkstätte and original artworks by Adolf Loos, Otto Wagner and Josef Hoffmann. Opened in 2001 the museum is located in the heart of Vienna, in the Museumsquartier flanked by other impressive museums.
