One of Europe’s best preserved 18th century theatres, it was “lost” for 100 years. Its original scenery, 200-year old stage machinery and interior decoration, virtually untouched by the passage of time (now with a UNESCO world heritage listing), can be seen during the summer not only in guided tours but also in new 17th and 18th century opera and ballet productions using period instruments.
