Sustainability:

  • Anjajavy Lodge is a 1030ha private reserve and manage a 9773ha protected area (land and marine) to preserve the biodiversity on the Anjajavy peninsula
  • All villas are equipped with solar water heaters and they are progressively switching to solar energy as the lodge’s main source of energy
  • Food supply such as vegetables, honey, seafood, etc. mainly from the surrounding villages
  • Implemented a plastic free policy: bamboo straw, reusable glass water bottles instead of plastic bottles, also transform plastic waste to bricks to reuse them in other construction
  • All the excursions requiring vehicles are subject to ecotaxes that contribute to the protected area management


Community interactions:

  • The lodge has contributed to local development by constructing primary and secondary schools, supplying medical support, etc
  • All the souvenir items in souvenir shop are handcrafted by the villagers
  • Excursions to the surrounding villages for guests to learn about the Sakalava (name of the main tribe) customs & traditions
  • Involvement of local people into conservation projects (patrolling, tree planting, etc.)
