The Latvian artist Sandra Strele (1991) engages her audience with large-format canvasses that continue and celebrate the tradition of monumental painting in the Baltics At the same time, she presents clear storylines with a muted colour palette that borrows a little from David Hockney’s games with perspective, scenes of domestic life and the clarity of the photographic image.
